ABOUT LAURA JANE
Laura Jane Jones hails from just outside Detroit where she was adopted into and raised into a multicultural family. Her first professional gig was singing in the Children’s Chorus of the Opera Grand Rapids in “Carmen” and “Tosca”. As a child she did television commercials for Meijer’s Grocery stores, radio commercials for Honda and had a special feature singing for the Ronald McDonald House. She went on to study musical theatre at the Boston Conservatory of Music and then graduated from the University of the Arts with a BFA in Theatre Arts and Music.
Laura Jane’s theatrical credits include “Annie” (Zach Theatre/Austin), “Twist” (Walnut Street Theatre/ Philadelphia), “Slam” (San Diego Repertory Theatre), “Jesus Christ Superstar” (Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera) “Beehive” (The Gem Theater/Detroit) “Little Shop of Horrors”, (Portsmouth, New Hampshire) “Bobos-A hip Hop Musical” (Philadelphia) A National tour of “Harlem Renaissance-A celebration for Black History Month” and a European tour of “Hair”. Laura was a stand in for the role of Liu in “Turandot” at the Houston Grand Opera. She was in the original cast of the “Existents” written by Broadway veterans Ty Taylor, Douglas Crawford and Jason Wooten with it’s world premiere performance in Los Angeles. And Lastly Laura Jane recorded vocals for the Dance Project called “The Chase Brock Experience” that performed in Brooklyn, New York.
Laura has sung on numerous television and film soundtracks including; a feature singing a duet in Italian with Chris Mann in Letters to Juliet, The Get Down (Netflix) Sex and The City 2, Dora and The Lost City of Gold (the voice of Eva Longoria, Dora’s mom), Bad Boys for Life, Let it Shine (Disney) We Will Rise (ABC) Sandy Wexler (Netflix) The Neighbors (NBC), American Housewife (ABC) Wu-Tang; An America Saga (HULU) Death in Paradise (BBC) Little America (Apple TV) starring Phylicia Rashad and Six Thirty (Apple TV)
Laura Jane has performed in 101 countries and has recorded or toured with the likes of Enrique Iglesias, The Black Eyed Peas, Teena Marie, Kelly Clarkson, The Dave Matthews Band, Joe Cocker, Aerosmith, Billy Ray Cyrus, Joss Stone, Michael Bolton, Cheap Trick, Katharine McPhee, Cee-Lo, Fantastic Negrito, Taylor Dayne, Ellis Hall, Vintage Trouble, N’Dea Davenport, Jeffrey Osbourne, Peabo Bryson, Jody Watley, Miles Mosley, Nicole Sherzinger and Oscar winning composer Bret McKenzie (to name a few). She sang with Yolanda Adams and Gloria Estefan for the BET special “Q85” Honoring Quincy Jones, She sang with Carrie Underwood on her Christmas Special called “The Gift” (HBO) She also sang with Cynthia Erivo for the Academy Awards in 2020, and for Sophia Carson and Diane Warren for the Academy Awards in 2023. She was also in the house band led by Greg Phillagaines for the annual Music Cares Event honoring Dolly Parton, where she backed up Miley Cyrus, Shawn Mendes, Chris Stapleton, Little Big Town, Lauren Daigle and Mavis Staples. And again with Yolanda Adams and Carrie Underwood on “A TRIBUTE TO ELVIS PRESLEY” on NBC. Laura has performed on almost every single music related television show including the Grammy’s, The Latin Grammy’s, The American Music Awards, The MTV Music Awards (USA and EUROPE), The Billboard Awards, The Latin Billboard Awards, The Echo Awards (Germany) the NRJ Awards (France) American Idol, The Voice, Dancing With the Stars, So You think You Can Dance, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Tonight with Jimmy Fallon, Live with Regis and Kelly, Good Morning America, America’s Got Talent, The View, The Late Late Show with James Corden and numerous shows on BBC, shows Germany, France and was even a part of the MTV launch in India. She has performed on almost every music related show on Telemundo and Univision.
Laura Jane is a vocal coach, vocal producer and arranger for many artists all over the world. She launched her own company called the Laura Jane International Vocal Studio. Her company originally started a vocal coaching hub but has evolved into vocal arranging, vocal contracting, production, hiring teams of producers, PR teams and score writers. She has worked with Katara Studios with signed artist Aisha who was featured on the official single for the FIFA WORLD CUP single called “Hayya Hayya” and Tejano artist Devin Banda. Banda’s single “Un Poquito Mas” was produced by Latin grammy winners Manual Papayo and Leonardo Brooks. Laura Jane served as a writer and executive producer for the song and placed it in an episode of Roswell.
Laura Jane is currently working at the Zach Theatre (Austin) in conjunction the Zach Academy and Zach Pre-Professional Company, and has taught voice at Diaz Music Institute (Houston) Humphrey School of Musical Theatre ( Houston) Musicians Woodshed (Austin) Musicians Institute (Los Angeles), Los Angeles Music Academy (Los Angeles) School of Rock (Los Angeles) Laura Jane is committed to not only mentoring the next generation of artists but to also educate young people on the industry.
Laura Jane served as co-producer for the King Cole Legacy Experience; a Tribute to Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole. It received a mention in the International Musicians Magazine for hiring a 22 member orchestra from the American Federation of Musicians Local 65-699.
Laura Jane stars as the lead in a new podcast called HIGHER GROUNDS, produced by Yellabird Media. A story about women, written and created by women; with themes of survival, betrayal and sisterhood. Higher Grounds reached number 2 on the fiction Apple Podcast chart. The theme song for Higher Grounds is written and produced by Laura Jane and is called “Everything Changes”. Laura Jane is now partnering in writing and producing with Yella Bird Media on a new podcast called The Other Woman, to be released in 2027.
Laura Jane is also a playwright, and has written a one woman play on Angela Davis. She also has written a musical called “I Love Music….the Street of Philly”….based around the music from the iconic The Sound of Philadelphia. Laura Jane is doing a world premiere staged reading of a new musical that she has written (currently untitled) about the story of Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole in Austin in 2027.
Last but certainly not least, Laura Jane has released three albums independently. To My Planet Boo produced by three time grammy winner Xavier Dephrepaulezz, Everything Changes and Weep Willow. Laura Jane is currently working on releasing new music. Lastly, Laura Jane has performed her solo shows all over the world including London, Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Austin, Budapest, Kyoto, Prague and Monaco.
